Salsa de Arbol, spicy, smokey and delicious! Another one of Carmen's incredible homemade salsa recipes from Zacatecas, Mexico

  1. Seal the chiles in tin foil (this will limit the spicy smell) and roast in a pan alongside the tomatillos and garlic over medium high heat; keep pressing the chilis down and flipping the foil packet for 5-7 minutes (until chiles are blackened and crisped) and then remove from the pan.
  2. Place a lid on the pan and continue cooking the tomatillos and garlic (turning every so often) for ~10 more minutes until blackened.
  3. Place the chiles, tomatillos and garlic into a blender with the water and salt and blend for 2 minutes until completely puréed - enjoy!
